Dangerous Behaviour?
I've just noticed, sitting here on a Connex train on the way into work, that there's a bit of a "One of these things is not like the others" thing going on with their warning stickers. They list "dangerous behaviour" as;
- Do not block doorways
- Do not hold or force doors open
- Do not jump on or off a moving train
- You must have a valid ticket
WTF? How can not holding a piece of paper authorising you to travel on the train constitute a dangerous activity? Hmmm...
Personally, I would've thought running the train network as done over the past 2 weeks, and creating near riot situations would've been closer to the mark with "dangerous behaviour".
Just on that, Connex is not entirely to blame for the public transport woes in Melbourne over the past fortnight. Having done a great deal of work within public transport (particularly rail) over the past 10 years, it's now at a point where pretty much everyone shares some part of the blame; Connex (as the operator), the Dept of Transport (supplier of the trains), the Rail Union (who does influence which services run) and Veolia/Mainco (who have to fix the trains when they break). Of course, then you can add in Metlink, the Public Transport Users Association and the media and it gets a little messy. However, Connex could've better planned for the ensuing heat wave and dealt with it better...
