I hate the way that the mainstream Australian media portrays world events to the Australian public. First up, don't get me wrong - I think the events of the past week in Mumbai are tragic, terrible and upsetting. But I do not, and will not, subscribe to the philosophy that Australians will only care about it if they can put an Australian death toll on it. "200 people dead, 2 might be Australian!". I would hope that we as a people are a bit more compassionate and interested in world events than that. And if we're not, well, stop feeding us the news in that format PLEASE!
