The conclusion
It's been too many posts tonight without a musical reference, so here's some (adapted) Public Enemy lyrics that sums up the result delivered to the Liberals tonight, and the feelings that I had every day I saw a piece of shitty negative Liberal propaganda hit our letterbox;
I got a letter from the government the other day
I opened and read it, it said they were suckers
They wanted me for their army of whatever
Picture me given a damn - I said never
Here is a party that never gave a damn
About a brother like me and myself, because they never did
I wasn't with it, but just that very minute...
It occurred to me that the suckers had authority
The Liberal party has been unequivocally told today that we can do better, and that we do not need to be treated like children, like slaves to an ever-precious economy, like prisoners in our own workplaces and we will not take our education, healthcare, infrastructure and environment for granted and accept second class solutions.
Kevin Rudd is now giving his acceptance speech. I'm overwhelmed, I'm elated and filled with an incredible hope for our future. Kevin Rudd is truly inspirational and I look forward to the coming months to see the path he puts Australia on. I love this country and have faith that he will govern this country and put us into a socially just and ethical position in the world. New leadership is EXACTLY what we need, and although Labor has a huge task ahead of them, I have faith. Tomorrow is a brilliant, new day. Sleep well tonight, I know I will.

Hi andy
Loved your election coverage! We had a good laugh and were cheering here along with you.
If Tony Jones is silverfox - what is Kevin07, with his own full head of silver hair, called? Meg
You'd have to ask the one who comes up with those lusty names in our house (Steph). I'm not sure that Kevin quite has the moves to pull off a nickname with the word "Fox" in it. Although I could think of a few lusty names for our new Deputy PM :P
