Weekend roundup
Had a great weekend, kicking off with a BBQ (well, small scale feast is perhaps a better descriptor) on Friday night for Steph and I. It really was a nice way to start the weekend, just chilling out in the courtyard with a mountain of food, a few beers and some good, quality conversation with my beloved (and Aurora stayed asleep the entire time!). Saturday was a big Aurora day, while Steph went out for a haircut, we went to visit my Nan. Last night was a big one; Tammy and Mark's engagement party. Caught a taxi there and back, so was able to indulge a little with the beers. Steph also indulged (perhaps a little too much). Anyway, sore heads all round this morning when Aurora woke us up at about 6am (got to bed about 1:30am). In between taking care of her, had some catnaps, and made it to the recovery BBQ at Tammy and Mark's (where a few more beers were "taken care of"). All up, very good weekend.
I've also been thinking a bit about Rove and Belinda Emmett (who passed away yesterday from her fight with cancer). I've thought how it would be to lose a close member of the family, and how that gets communicated to those you know - the rest of the family, your friends, your acquaintances, your work colleagues, "the officials", etc... the incredible grief you would feel and the awkwardness of it all. I don't know if it would be better or worse if you lived your life in the public eye. In any case, it's no doubt a devastating event, and one that requires a great deal of sensitivity. I hope the media acts accordingly.
