I've been thinking of recent times about the purpose of this blog. Well actually, I wrote that sentence about 2 months ago, but haven't gotten around to completing it with the rest of this blog entry. So, I thought it would be a good idea to remind myself and my readers (reader?) of the purpose of this blog. Firstly, it truly is a record of my thoughts and activities for my recollection. My memory swings from one end of the scale to the other; woeful to terrible. People tell me stories about things I've said or done and I grin wildly (think village idiot style) awaiting for my brain to remember... and sometimes it just doesn't. And on the other end of the scale, I can still remember minute details from 20 years ago. Or phone numbers of a couple of hundred people. In any case, this online diary will give me some reference to what I did from September 2004 onwards.

Secondly, and perhaps more importantly, this blog (and entire website) serves as a record for Aurora (and any other future Neumann offspring). She/they will be able to read about her/their Dad, what he was like, how he endlessly banged on about Coheed & Cambria/Work/being tired/how wonderful his kid(s) are and everything else I put down into this new fangled thought capturing device called a blog. So, in 5, 10 or 15 years, when you read this Aurora, know that you are and will most likely always be the most important thing in my life.
