New music

  • Tool's "10,000 Days"; really good stuff, although if you're expecting new directions from the band, you're going to be disappointed. This album could've been recorded a week after Lateralus or Aenima was completed. The beauty of it is that it's reminded me that Tool's music stands the test of time, and I've missed them over the past couple of years.
  • Pearl Jam's "Pearl Jam"; really disappointing. Gave it a couple of listens, but it was just so BORING. One song in which Mike McCready lets rip at the end (that was impressive), but it's just slow and plodding. And I sit here wearing a Pearl Jam t-shirt as I write this :(
  • Red Hot Chilli Peppers' "Stadium Arcadium"; I've been a bit dubious of RHCP over the past few albums - and I think rightly so - they were fairly dodgy albums at best. This (double) album however makes up for it all - I've listened to it about 5 times so far - it's great. The playing is tremendous - even Kiedis' vocals are good. Chad, Flea and Frusciante rule this album though - such tight playing as a band. I'll definitely buy this one when it comes out next week.
