What a debacle...

Well, I'm finally on a flight on the way home after a few days in Sydney. And it hasn't exactly been a smooth visit... Starting yesterday morning, here's a rundown of events:

  • Woke up late (only a few minutes)
  • My necklace broke (the lucky necklace) when I was putting it on
  • My usual driver, who was supposed to take me to the airport at 6am, forgot and slept in.
  • I called a taxi that arrived at 6:15am, who proceeded to drive quite slowly to the airport (he also told me how great John Howard was)
  • I ran to catch my flight, only to find it had been delayed from 7:15am to 8:30am (Sydney only had one runway open due to gale force winds)
  • I managed to get on a flight leaving at 8am, thinking might yet make it for my very important business meeting at 10am in the CBD
  • Of course, our flight was then delayed for 30 minutes in the air...
  • I arrived in Sydney at 9:50am, caught a taxi to the city, got there around 10:15am
  • Had my meeting (went well), while back at home, we had a plumbing disaster (toilet blocked, emergency callout, as you can probably guess, not a cheap event)
  • Had another important presentation late afternoon, was directed to the wrong location (e.g. another building, 10 minutes from where I was currently was). Discovered this 5 minutes before the start of the presentation. High tailed it.

That was yesterday. Today has been relatively more successful, however I have still:

  • Turned up 30 minutes early for a meeting (e.g. could've slept in)
  • Almost missed my flight home (checked in 5 minutes before departure)
  • Am currently sitting in the very back row of the smelliest (smells like a fucking toilet... oh wait, I'm sitting next to a toilet!), most cramped plane I've been on in a while

Fuck I'm looking forward to getting home.

P.S. I can't believe it... the captain literally just this minute advised us that we've been delayed by Air traffic control for 15 minutes. That's awesome.

he also told me how great John Howard was
