I'm annoyed with my new Video Camera. Well, not so much at the camera, but with the fact that I need to go and get something else in order to connect it to my computer to get video off the tape. From all the packaging and manuals, on first glance, it looks like you can easily connect your Video Camera to the PC, and suck down whatever you've recorded onto tape. But not so. You CAN connect (using a provided USB cable) and get the still pictures you've put on the SD Card, but if you want to get stuff off the tape you need a Firewire cable (note NOT provided with the camera). I also don't have a Firewire card in my PC, so I need to buy one of those as well. WHAT A FUCKING PAIN IN THE ASS. Yeah I'm pissed - What retard fucking company in this day and age doesn't think that their customers are going to want to be able to easily put their video from tape to PC and burn to DVD? Canon, that's poor form. I would've been cool if the Camera had've included the Firewire cable (and a clear instruction somewhere that I would need a Firewire port to transfer video). I was really keen to get the 2 hours of footage I recorded this afternoon and start to review, edit, etc, but now I can't do shit. I tell you what I can do, I can fucking cut and paste this blog entry and send it off to Canon. Let's see if I get a response.
